For structural steel profiles and solid bars, 4 to 6 TPI works well for larger cross-sections. For thin-wall tubing and precision cuts on smaller profiles, 8 to 14 TPI gives cleaner results with less vibration. Bimetal blades use M42 or M51 high-speed steel teeth welded to a flexible spring steel back. They suit most ferrous and non-ferrous metals with strong cost-per-cut performance. Carbide-tipped blades last longer on hardened alloys, cast materials, and high-volume cutting applications, but carry a higher upfront cost.
